Education Definition Essay

What's Education?

According to the Webster's dictionary, education is the act or process of imparting or acquiring general knowledge. But for what purpose? Education is the key to having a strong economy and a great nation. Education is the key to success through all endeavors. Whether it is driving a car or typing on the computer, you need some sort of education to get you through everyday life. I believe that education means being taught and prepared for the future, it is a necessity for preserving a good society, and it is a never-ending cycle that lasts until the day you die.

Education is a necessity in today's world in order to be successful. Education is started at birth. As soon as you are born, you start the process of education. This process runs the rest of your life. You go to school to prepare for the future, and education provides the support for your family and yourself. Companies today are mostly looking for employees with a college education, and without it, you can't get a great job, and you won't be able to support yourself that well, let alone a family. Without education it is well known that you will work harder earning less money, than you would work at a desk earning more. It seems to me that most people with college, and/or high school education are working in offices, and people with a low level of education are doing more tedious manual labor type of jobs an not getting paid as much.

Education is what runs this country. Our country is built on knowledge and education. All of the world's richest countries in the world, like the United States, Japan, and Germany all have literacy rates of 99.9%, where some of the poorer countries such as Bangladesh, and Ethiopia have a literacy rate of less than 45%. Some people may say that the money is the reason for the bad education, but I believe that it shouldn't be that hard to give some of the people of the poorer countries a better

Secondly, an education can help society develop into a better place. There are a number of people who are illiterate or have low literacy skills. This accounts for a majority of the impoverished and undeveloped people. With an education, these people could get a job and make some money. The money earned could help pay for food or a place to live. As a result, there would be fewer malnourished people and fewer people living on the street. If people are educated it makes it easier for them to later move onto college and higher education which then will lead to more employment options. “ We observe that student achievement in the United States is estimated to have increased by 1.6% of a standard deviation.” (Hanushek, Woessmann, Peterson) a standard deviation is the increments shown on a graph in which measures the extent of differences between the the subjects being compared. While 1.6% of a deviation doesn't sound like a lot, it makes a big difference when talking about education, if the US keeps making steady increases in education quality, and student achievement everyone will be able to get a quality education which will then benefit them later in life. The increases in education that our country has been making sets up children for success at an early age, teaching them to work hard at their goals and that education can get them where they want to be. “US students in elementary school do seem to be performing considerably better than they were a couple of decades ago. Most notably, the performance of 4th grade students on math tests rose steeply between the mid-1990’s and 2011.” (Hanushek, Woessmann, Peterson) The unemployment rates for those with only a high school education was 6.3%…

In my country education is nothing like the education in The United States, El Salvador, my home country, is one of the poorest countries in Central America, people come to the U.S to get a better education to help their people back home, and is not only El Salvador, so many other countries like Guatemala, Venezuela, Mexico and many other countries from Latin America come to the US to study and be a better person and get a decent education. What motivates me to study and to continue with my career is my family, because they didn’t go to school and I don’t want to get old and work in the same job for decades and do the same for the rest of my life. Another this that makes me disappointed and sad is when I see people that doesn’t know how to communicate in English, but at the same time it makes me mad because people needs to educate themselves, no one is going to tell you “Don’t go to school you don’t need that”, yes there is so many negative people outside in the world but education is an option, a personal…

Before I begin my comment, for me, the term “education” means to graduate from university. Similarly, to survive in this world is to get a job and earn enough money for you and your family. In my point of view, I think human being is unable to live properly in this modern world without education. It is a productive and beneficial factor in a person’s life that everyone’s right to get. The training of a human mind is not completed without education. While you are educated, you learn thousand of things such as communication, technology, leadership skill, particular work skill, etc. Like Aristotle (a Greek philosopher and polymath) said, “The educated differ from the uneducated as much as the living differ from the dead”. Because of technology, education and other factors make the world develops everyday. Therefore, education is very important and necessary for you to get a good job and outstand in society especially nowadays when there is high competition on work place. For example, in January 2013, around 13 million (8.5%) of population in United States are unemployed, reported by the Current Population Survey (CPS). It shows that it is not easy to find a job and to work for a company, if you don’t have a certain level of education. At least, you are required a degree or a master graduate certificate. As a result, all should notice that without education, it is very hard to survive in this modern society, so everyone must be…
