The music I remember most from my childhood was the music that my parent, aunt, uncles and
their closest friends were listening to until I was old enough to know what I liked and wanted to hear on my own.   Some of these songs are still to this day my favorites.   Artists like the Bee Gee’s and the Bangel’s sang songs that make me remember what I was doing at some precise moments that I would never have remembered otherwise.   During my middle school years, I can remember putting on shows with my friends using their parents 8track jamming in dress up clothes singing along with the songs by the GoGo’s.   Favorites at that time were “Our lips are sealed” and “Grease”.     Talking about this time in this paper is putting a smile of wonderful childhood memories all over my face right now.   I learned the words to some of these songs over 30 years ago and no matter how many years that pass without hearing the same songs again, the words come back to me like it was yesterday.   All I had to do was sing the words of the song silently in my head to take me back again to a place of innocence only children get to experience and adults occasionally de ja vu about.   Why does music have the strongest influence over me when I need to remember an occurrence my childhood?  
Music makes me feel a variety of emotions, depending on the type of music that I’m listening to.  
then I listen to Tim McGraw’s “Live like your Dying”, I tear up every time as it takes me back to three funerals and family members I’ve unexpectedly had to say goodbye to.   I know that everybody needs and emotional cheerleader, like the music that encourages me and lifts my spirit when I’m feeling low.   Music does not solve any of my problems but it does serve my emotional symptoms every time.   I know and understand the feeling I’m experiencing within myself when I...
