  * Decisions in Paradise Part II
Nik recognizes the urgency in Kava to establish a greater presence of the police department and understands that she will have to find solutions for all the problems in Kava. Nik will have to analyze, evaluate, and improve the situation within the PD, rebuild the organization, and build a code of ethics. By applying these steps this will help improve the performance within PD and increase the quality of lives in Kava.
  * NIk has been in Kava for a few weeks its time for Niki to start making decisions in a logical, rational, and systematic way. Niki has started making her checklist. First on the list:
  * finding a translator so that Nik can communicate with the local people
      * Interviews for the local people in Kava will be held on Monday August 2, 2010 from eight a.m. to five p.m. All applicants must be 18 or older, and speak one or more of the following languages: indigenous languages, English, Spanish, and French. Since 15% of Kavas population is under 15 finding someone over the age of 15 could be problematic. PD in Kava will need to be competitive with the translator’s salary. Niki is hoping to draw in an older crowd to adhere to the child labor laws.
  * Identifying the problems, Define criteria, goals, and objectives,
      * Nik and Alex are the only ones in Kava trying to build PD from the ground up. Nik has decided she needs more help to run PD. Nik has asked that she attain more help from back in the states with the hiring, training, schooling and on-the-job training of the local people in Kava. Nik will have to promote the PD heavily, hold a several hiring events around the island, and figure out exactly how many men and women 18 and older she will need to fill all positions of PD. Nik will also need to have already trained or retired police officers relocate to Kava to help train and supervise the new PD.
