Decision to Pursue an MBA

Abstract
So you think you are ready to take on the world. You’ve already obtained an undergraduate degree at a university or college. Chances are that you have started or are in the process of starting a career path fresh out of college. If you are just starting out your career path you are going to want your resume to stand out amongst other job applicants for the position you are pursuing. What can you do to place yourself above the competition and into the dream job in management? To me the decision was to go ahead and pursue an MBA to achieve personal goals, and I will make the case as why an MBA can help me.
Personality
One reason I have decided to pursue the MBA is to improve upon my leadership skills as a potential manager. Not everyone is management material. I used to question whether I had the leadership qualities it takes to be successful. That was only 3 years ago. It was shortly after this point that I decided to return to school to obtain my undergraduate degree and I knew I had the personality to lead. I decided that I wanted to pursue a career in hotel management, and it is well known that to manage people you have to have the right type of personality. According to the results of my Jungian 16-Type Personality Assessment, I had a score of “ENFJ”. This translates into my personality being “charismatic, compassionate, and highly persuasive”. I agree with most of this assessment but I don’t believe that I am highly persuasive. I believe that certain coursework that I take will towards obtaining the MBA will entrench me with the persuasion skills needed to effectively manage people. Even before taking this assessment I always have been known for being a compassionate person, and in management if you’re not compassionate towards your peers and subordinates, you’ll never succeed.
