This essay will look at the relationship between the state, the people in authority and the people who are governed.   It will explain how the state is defined
In terms of   citizens behaviour and the political orderings that take place and how these structures can be contested by the individual or certain organisations
The state and political order are closely linked. Political ordering is a condition in which there is an absence of conflict or dissent towards organisations, which regulate social life. The state itself is an institutional order with the aim to prevent chaos.

The state is part of the discourses found in everyday life. It is apparent in many organisations, such as public sector institutions, government departments, schools and hospitals.

The state is also represented by bureaucratic procedures, such as paying road taxes or something as simple as the time of day, which could appear on a clock. The addition of British Summer Time (B.S.T) and Greenwich Mean Time (G.M.T) was passed by a law regulated by the state in 1916.Joe Painter, a political geographer calls these activities “the everyday discourses or state actors “ (2006,p.761).
Although you can make an appointment with your doctor, write to your government official or contact the police and be instrumental in forming an idea of the state, the state is much more than that. It is quite abstract as it sits behind all of these organisations.

States are large and complex in terms of structure and function. Christopher Hood (1982) a political scientist argues that all the bodies, which create the state, are a “formless mass”.
The state is not a fixed idea, there is a distinction, and distinctions are reflected by some social scientists between the government and the state. A government is generally understood to be a group of ministers, as a collective who are responsible for the implementation of policy with regards to national issues.
