Data Report and AnalysisBritnee Burleson
Tyler Junior CollegeAbstract
This report attempts to determine my personality type by analyzing the Type Focus assessment results in order to find out my personality type and if it is compatible with my career choice. Research generated four letter personality type, three main interest, and three work values. These results will be discussed in Method, Results, and Discussion.
Data Report and AnalysisIntroduction:
Starting anew at Tyler Junior College was the first step of reflection and figuring out my career goals. I have always wanted to help people with lung disorders and diseases. What drove me in this direction was my grandmothers passing due to lung cancer as well as myself having severe asthma. Since I wanted to be more involved with lungs and the respiratory system I chose Respiratory Care Therapy as my major. It took me some time to make this decision, I wondered if I would be happy doing this type of work and if I would make enough money to support a family. I also wondered if this specific field of medical science was right for me. I wanted to find my type of personality and see if it would be a match with the career I had chosen. To answer my questions I went to take the Type Focus to discover my personality, interest, and value type. I hope to find with this study that my personality is compatible with my profession of choice. The purpose of this study is to gain insight to myself and find if my personality is compatible with my career choice.
Method:
In order to find my personality type, career type, and values I went to the TJC public website to access the Type Focus assessment. To be able to take the Type Focus I had to create a new user. After I had went through the simple steps of creating a new user I was able to start the personality assessment. The personality part of the Type Focus resembles other personality based quizzes. It starts by asking you to choose between words you find more appealing.

Very rarely so we take stock in our own well-being in the workplace and even less time is spent on determining if our personalities fit within the expected model of behavior that is expected at the organization for which we are part of. Occasionally it is good to sit back and look at oneself and determine what your personality traits are and if they coincide with your goals. Personality testing is not a new topic. What is new is the ongoing shift in mindset that has diluted the value of personality testing during the hiring process and only finds a value in using personality testing after the candidate has joined the organization. This will be challenged by first providing a brief history on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and reviewing the years of dedicated research that went into the development of the test. Second, it will reveal the correlations of the test results to job requirements through specific examples. Third, it will discuss why applicant honesty and company policy makes personality testing necessary. Fourth, it will identify and support how many organizations successfully use the MBTI for applications other than pre-employment. Finally, organizations utilizing personality testing, specifically the MBTI, as a part the hiring process will identify the strongest and most compatible candidate for the required organizational needs.…
