IF DARWINISM AND THE THEORY OF INTELLIGENT DESIGN COINCIDE THEN SPECIES WERE CREATED BY A HIGHER BEING AND EVOLVED THROUGH A COMPETITION FOR EXISTENCE AND REPRODUCTION, Stephanie Klingele, Pace University

ABSTRACT:
Darwinism verses intelligent design is a very controversial subject since its very beginning.   Charles Darwin was the creator of the theory of evolution.   This new theory of evolution caused a huge uproar by those who believed that species were created by a higher being, also known as the intelligent design theory.   People who followed the theory of evolution believed that humans were created from nonhuman molecules by the process of natural selection.   Darwin’s theory taught us that humans were created from the reproduction of single celled organisms.   He believed that new species arose from ancestral species by their modifications used to adapt to their environments.   We see this evidence in homologous structures in different species.   A human arm has a similar bone structure as a cat leg and bat wing.   This homology is all part of what is found in Darwin’s book called The Origin of Species. Then we have those who oppose the theory of evolution.   People believe that there was an intelligent agent that created humans.   This theory states that all the parts of the system have to be in place for all of the system to work.   Most religions believe that a higher being created the universe and its inhabitants.   We see this through the Bible teachings in Genesis, God had created Adam and Eve.   It is something that over the years when taught in schools would cause a great amount of controversy.   This remains to this day an argumentative historical debate; Darwin verses intelligent design. In this study, we will find that Darwinism coincides or is not possible without intelligent design.

The earth we live on is about 4.5 billion years old.   The first humans date back about three million years.   Scientists know this through fossils,... [continues]
