Dalman lei
Lei can apply the 4 step process of the control systems starting with Step 1 SETTING PERFORMANCE STANDARDS. Lei needs to do research with other businesses and see how their standards and practices are compared to theirs. She needs to establish goals for each employee and ways that gives them an incentive to do better at their job knowing there may be a pay raise or job advancement in their future. Lei also needs to make sure that their time on the job is well spent. This employee cost the company not only money but time out of her busy schedule to handle this problem. Lei needs to take some responsibility as not knowing how outdated her employee handbook is. By setting goals for the employees she also is setting up cost saving measures and time management which will save the company money in the long run. She also needs to realize that whatever standards she sets now has to apply to all employees going forward, not just the situation at hand.

Step 2 MEASURING PERFORMANCE
Management needs to review data and analyze which sections of the department are on track and which are falling behind. They also need to reward those who are on track or ahead of schedule and those under quota need to be told that they need to make quota. It is possible they need additional equipment or personnel to accomplish this. Maybe a reward at the end of the week will be enough to get them back on track or a bonus at quarters end if they meet quota every week.

Step 3 COMPARING PERFORMANCE WITH THE STANDARD
Once Lei figures out what the problems and issues are she then needs to discuss these with Dalman. She cannot blame the employee and their manager for standards that she and Dalman failed to have in place. Every month they need to have a meeting and discuss any issues that the employees and managers are having. Also stressing the fact that once the new standards are in place they will be carried out.
