D1 Unit 22 Evaluate the success of various display and merchandising and display techniques used by different outlets and those in their own designs
Above I have two shop displays, one of these shop displays is the shoe room from Harrods and the other is a Shop display that I mad for Harrods. I will be finding the weaknesses and strengths of each shop display.
One of the strengths of these shop display 1 is that there are many tangible goods which make the buyer more interested if they want to buy want the item. If they want to buy it, they would want to feel the quality of the fabric before they can take it home with them to see if it worth the price they are paying etc.
One of the strengths of shop display number 2 is that the display looks clean and not messy. By display being clean, it makes the display more attractive as more people would want to go in and try items on which would lure them into buying it if they like it.
One of the weaknesses of shop display 1 is that it does not have a variety of items on the display which might not interest some customers as it may not be their taste of style but it may have been for others. This is bad because it only get some customers into the shop when the display should be able to bring all customers in.
One of the weaknesses of shop display number 2 is that there are too many shoes around which makes nothing stand out and catch someone’s eye. This is bad because none of the shoes would be bought if they don’t catch the buyer attentions and they wouldn’t even notice the shoes.
Thirdly, another one of the strengths of the above shop display 1 is that it has good colour coordination which can catch the customer’s eye really quickly. This is good because it the items don’t catch the customers eyes then they wouldn’t really want to take it home.
Another one of the strengths of shop display number 2 is that there are individual spotlight on the shoe shelves which gives the shoes more of an attractive look and makes the shoes look as if they are very good quality. This is good because it would make the customer buy they products if they think it looks nice and

As it is mention, in the Payless mission statement, “Payless mission is to deliver a wonderful shopping experience that exceeds our customer’s expectations. Delivering this wonderful experience has little to do with displays and shoe racks; it’s all about our associates and their relationship with customers. When customers come to Payless, they can expect helpful service from people who love shoes and fashion. And, our associates are as passionate about helping our customers as they are about the products they sell (Payless, 2012).”…

Visual Merchandising -Concepts and ConcernsVisual Merchandising, Handloom & Home Textiles-A Historical PerspectiveVisual Merchandising has been always one of the weakest aspects of Handloom and Home Textile marketing. For much of the time, Availability and opening of newer outlets was the prime objective rather than effective visual merchandising. Reach rather than visual quality of point of purchase was the consideration. Government ownership of many of the points of purchase did not help the matters either. Contemporary visual treatment of the store and the merchandise was seldom an acute concern for the government, eager to preserve its down to earth (read crude and rustic) image. Lately however thinking seems to have undergone a change and KVIC and other government retail shops are tuning into times. In the area of Handlooms and Home textiles, too the scene is not very different. Beginning with “bare” points of purchase and moving onto showrooms where display meant nothing more than visual exposure, now lately better retailers are considering effective visual merchandising a necessary must. Historically too, India has always had a rich tradition of visual merchandising. Visual merchandising as seen in Melas, Haats, Peths and festival specific shops, shows a rich and diverse context of visual merchandising. Tradition and Mythology have been creatively re-interpreted across generations for a fresh visual merchandising. Hopefully the flame of creativity founded on indigenous foundations and richness should get translated into modern hi-technology aided visual merchandising, as a continuing inspiration. Changing ScenarioWay back to several decades the handloom business was operated in “safe” ways could hold the market due to many reasons, one of major reasons was the people belonging to the generation of those times who saw Indian independence and their nostalgia towards it could hold back…

NightOwl provided a good merchandise assortment with a range of quality brands, products, breadth and depth. Its store design did not perform effective merchandise spatial planning as a result of the stores layout. Factors such as lighting and flooring also let down the stores design performance. The store provided a good use of visual merchandising, particularly with signage which helped to determine sale items. 7-Eleven performed very well in the merchandise selection by providing high quality merchandise and a great product breadth and depth which reinforces a positive store image. Its store design is very effective adding convenience for shoppers through the stores infrastructure, creating an attractive interior, store layout, merchandise spatial planning and visual merchandising such as signage. Another advantage in the 7-Eleven store design was allocating the cash register towards the…

He or she must communicate with coworkers, consult with buyers and fashion coordinators, and get construction done through the carpenters and printers before ever stepping into the window or onto the ledge. It takes planning, plotting, and programming. It takes preparation.…

The store is often attached to or part of the owner’s house but it may also be a freestanding store just in front of the owner’s house. Many stores have advertising material alongside the store name on the signboards. Sari-sari stores vary in appearance but they all have certain traits in common. First, the customers do not enter the store during the transaction. It is only through a small window and sometimes it has a long counter in front. Items are being displayed by hanging some of it from the ceiling, or it can be on the walls and in front of the store to save space and so that items can easily be seen by customers. Candies and other small items sold by pieces are placed in transparent jars and are arranged mostly in front. A lighter is tied to a string, being hung up and displayed in front of the small window or counter. Often it is not possible for every kind of item in the store can be displayed, but customers can be assured that the most basic needs are available.…
