Cyber bullying is worse than Traditional Bullying
As time progresses, technology is improving, causing many creations into the virtual world. Technology has become one important factor of a daily life; we are all relying on electronics on a daily basis, such as a cell phone or our computer/laptop. In the 21st century, one popular form of communication is through cell phones or the Internet. When we are not at home facing our computers, many of us are on our cell phones, texting or surfing the web. Technology has improved in a dramatic way that without it, we might just be lost. Having such high tech technology, online profiles are created such as facebook, myspace, friendster, email, dating profiles, etc. Thus, leading to many dangers of the virtual world. When looking at the big picture, one may think, “how can the internet be harmful?” Truth is, there are many things happening in the virtual world that is not noticeable. One major danger of the web, involves cyber bullying; a type of bullying that does not involve direct face-to-face bullying. Cyber bullying differs from the traditional bullying. Cyber bulling is the use of the Internet and related technologies to harm other people, in a deliberate, repeated, and hostile manner. (Webster’s Dictionary) where as, bullying is a blustering, quarrelsome, overbearing person who habitually badgers and intimidates smaller or weaker people (Webster’s Dictionary). Bullying has long been a problem in school but as technology advances with our generation, the Internet has been expanding with its sources, and cyber bullying happens more and more online, causing emotional damage and in some cases, suicide to a teenager.
The improvement of technology takes bullying to a whole new level; bullying is easier done than it was before with email, chat rooms, and an unlimited audience online.
