1. Select one teaching of Jesus from one of the following Bible verses: Matthew 5:21-24, Matthew 5:43-48, Matthew 6:19-24, Matthew 7:15-23, Luke 15:1-32, John 13:1-17 & 34-35, John 15:1-11. Answer the following questions:
a. What was Jesus’ point in the teaching?
In Matthew 5:43-48, Jesus is teaching that In Matthew 5:21-24, Jesus addresses his followers and states that killing someone is subjected to the judgment. This is a thought, which we all understand in the society because taking someone’s life is directly related with the judgement of the council and the God Himself. However, Jesus proceeds further and associates this concept with the ill emotions of people. He states that it is not likely that people are assumed vicious if they kill someone; the rise of negative emotions in mind and heart can also led to such things. For example, he mentions that anger and hatred are the worst enemies of humankind. If one is angry, as he states, the one is subjected to judgment. His point in teaching this concept is to warn people about the negative emotions and feelings as they lead to crime. His inherent message in this teaching is associated with the initial identification of the crime because anger results in crime at several occasions in people’s lives.

b. What sort of relevance does this teaching have for other worldviews?
This teaching can be used in all worldviews. Although these teachings are from Jesus, it can be used in all worldviews. His love, kindness is universal and can be used to influence different worldviews.

c. What does this teaching reveal about Jesus?
This teaching shows us that Jesus only loved. No matter what he faced and the persecution he dealt with he only showed love and compassion. He loved and forgave the people

-Jesus taught people by parables. Jesus told his people about farmers who sow his seed. Scattering the seeds, some fell on the path and some fell in a rocky place with no soil. It bloomed fast. The sun dried them out. The plants died because of a lack of soil. Some plants grow creating weeds. The plants then died because the weeds stopped the growth of the plants. Other seeds had fallen on good soil areas. This helped the plants grow well for the farmers allowing them to harvest from these plants. Jesus was the farmer and the seed represents good news, seeds being scattered in different places represents different individuals.…

All of the teachings of Jesus can be summed up in the one word "love." The love of Jesus Christ was perfect love, and he commanded his disciples to love one another as he loved them. Christians well know that they do not have this Christlike love in themselves, but when they remember how Christ loved them and died for them, they in turn will love others. The Spirit of Christ is the Spirit…

As diverse and multicultural as today’s society may appear, the majority of individuals have still heard of the gospels that help make up the Holy Bible. Although there are many in the Bible, the four canonical gospels, Mathew, Mark, Luke, and John, are perhaps the most widely recognized. These four, although composed by different individuals, share many similarities in common such as how those who encounter Jesus after his resurrection behave. Even certain traits that characterize Jesus himself after resurrection are somewhat related.…

Many have attempted to derive a purely "social gospel" from the Gospel According to Matthew, that is, an account of the ethical teachings of Jesus that is stripped of all references to the divinity of Jesus Christ, or to a final judgement. It is not only coherent to derive a social ethic from the Gospel, but also is imperative in order to mitigate the differences among religions which have caused followers to believe in their own absolute truth and to judge others as misguided. At the same time, this has driven generations of followers to commit acts of violence in the name of God over subtle and relatively unimportant differences. The teachings of Jesus, which are found in the "Gospel According to Mathew" are mostly ethical; however, they…

When we specifically look at the Gospel of Matthew and the Gospel of John, it is clear that the different perspectives in the portrayal of Jesus are significant in their own right. It is likely that Matthew wrote for Jewish Christians in Antioch, Syria (c. 85 CE) (Mudge & Taylor et al, 1994, p. 157). Matthew’s primary concern is Jesus as Teacher. In contrast to this however, John’s Gospel was most likely authored around 90CE for people of Jewish and Gentile backgrounds (Mudge & Taylor et al, 1994, p. 157). For John, the divine Jesus comes to bring ‘life’ and ‘light’ to humanity, as can be seen in John 10:10. His Gospel seems to be independent from those of Matthew, Mark and Luke.…

The Gospel According to Matthew and the Gospel According to Luke offer detailed accounts of the life and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth. These gospels, as well as the Gospel According to Mark, are collectively known as the “synoptic gospels” because of their shared traditions and stories. It is from this trio of works, all written some 2,000 years ago, that the teachings of the otherwise obscure figure of Jesus are able to be revealed to contemporary readers. While Matthew, Mark, and Luke share many salient features, Matthew and Luke alone seek to emphasize Jesus’ direct appeals to nullify the principle of ethical reciprocity in the Sermon on the Mount and Sermon on the Plain, respectively. Luke in general and verses 6:27-35 in particular are chiefly interested in the significance of the teachings of Jesus as they relate to this topic. This analysis will serve as a detailed examination Jesus’ attempts to nullify the law of ethical reciprocity in Luke 6:27-35.…

The New Testament contains four written gospels, the Gospel of Mark, Matthew, Luke, and John. Each gospel tells the same story, but each paints a different picture of Jesus and relays different ideas and concerns for their readers. These differences can be a result of who each author’s intended audience is and what message they are wanting to give to their audience. All four gospels can be seen as real accounts written by real people of how four different communities interpret Jesus.…
