Kohl’s beginnings its first single store in 1962, and quickly become one of the nation’s largest retailers. Kohl’s is originally based in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, Kohl's and is known to be a family-focused, value-oriented, specialty department store offering quality exclusive and national brand merchandise to the customer in an environment that is convenient, which is friendly and exciting. At present Kohl's operates stores and distribution centers in 49 states. Every year, we continue to build new stores and remodel existing locations to create an inspiring shopping experience. The Kohl's Corporation is an American department store chain headquartered in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, in the suburb of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This company currently operates 1,067 stores in 49 states. Kohl's Company has a mission, that is stated in store and online, which is to be the leading value-oriented, family-focused, specialty department store. Based on 2008 revenue, Kohl's was the 24th-largest retailer in the United States. The Kohl’s Company entered the S&P 500 list in 1998 and is also listed in the Fortune 500 as number 135 in 2010. Owner Max Kohl, who had previously operated traditional grocery stores, that was first built 1946 known as Kohl's supermarket, which was the first in what would become a southeastern Wisconsin chain known as Kohl's Food Stores. In the year 1962, he started his first department store, Kohl's Department Store, which was located in Brookfield, Wisconsin. He positioned Kohl's between the higher-end department stores and the discounters, selling everything from candy to engine oil to sporting equipment. Marketing to Kohl’s is the lifeblood and the backbone of their organization. Without this, their organization is good as nothing. More so, Kohl’s Company formulates the most effective strategy in order for the organization to cope up and meet the ever-changing and fast-paced trends and demands of the business environment. The Kohl's stores feature nationally recognized brand-name merchandise, exclusive labels, and private-branded goods, virtually the same merchandise mix as traditional department stores. At the stores there is a variety of goods, such as apparel, shoes, and accessories for women, children and men, and home products such as small electronics, kitchen electrics, electric shavers, toothbrushes, vacuums & floor care, bedding, toys, and luggage.
