Current Business Research Project
According to the requirements of this paper the Online Library was used to locate a peer-reviewed article and proved a synopsis of that article. The article chosen for this paper was Effects of Ownership Type and Socio-cultural Context on Leadership in the Banking Sector: An International Study. The goal of this synopsis is to define the research and the purpose, clarify the problems research, describe the methods used to collect the research, and provide a conclusion of the researcher’s results.
According to Princeton (n.d.), “research is the attempt to find out in a systematically and scientific manner” (Define, para). In this article researchers carried out a study to explore the “relationship between a company’s ownership and the leadership style of bank managers in a transition country” (Elenkov & Petkova-Gourbalova, 2008). The research suggested that the socio-cultural environment presides over the effectiveness of a given leadership. To prove their research was true, the researchers employed the uses of two theories: Implicit personality theory (IPT) and Implicit Leadership Theories (ILT).
According to Elenkov and Petkova-Gourbalova (2008), the course of action for the research was based on two stages. Stage one consisted of gathering information from 15 leading banking institutions in Bulgaria, while the second stage consisted of surveying 200 potential respondents which took into considered age, gender, and job tenure. These surveys were carried out under strict guidelines to guarantee the secrecy of all respondents.
Two hundred surveys were issued, out of those 134 were returned completely filled out, whereas the remaining 66 were not completed. The results were based on 31.3% male and 67.9% female respondents, with 53.7% of the respondents 30 or younger.
