Tracking the Intersection of Culture and Media
. Music is not just merely for entertainment, it is a legitimate form of Pop Culture, which expresses who we are, what we are about, where we stand on politics and current events, and describes our ways of life. It is as different as we are, changing from group to group, culture to culture, and person to person.
The Rolling Stones sang “I can’t get no Satisfaction”, and had a mass of followers and believers. To say the song was not cultural, when it came out in a time that teamed with the notions of freedoms for sex, drugs, speech, and government would be untrue. Music has been a means of communication and expression for centuries. It was first used to communicate between groups, tribes, and villages, where different chords meant different messages. Then it was used as a means of expressing ones views and feelings with others. Different forms of music are heard all over the world. As times have changed, so has the music. Most people can find enjoyment, relaxation, and comfort in some form of music. Even the hearing impaired can feel the music. Music can define who we are and our ways of life and is not just a form of entertainment. It has the power to influence moods and personalities, and it affects people differently. Songs can tell stories about life, political views, and current events. that can be shared or differ between genres. Music is generally derived by a culture and changes from culture to culture, as well as changes by sub cultures. Through our findings, we intend to prove this statement correct.
