:Looking at the diversity of culinary variety and its development in the world today, there will be a promising need for well- prepared, dedicated chefs, administrators and managers in all areas including hotels, foodservice, food manufactures, catering, food media as well as other hospitality and tourism- related fields. By developing culinary art profession in the job market, it will also encourage Malaysian’s youths to join this new rebranding profession and the ‘Graduates Unemployment ‘ is able to be minimized. Besides, it is also believe that the best way to experience a country's culture is through its food. However, there are just a few of Culinary school provide guests a retreat into a sanctuary of imaginative art, cuisine and culture that can bring and rebranding Malaysia as a Culinary Tourism’s attraction. In order to design a culinary retreat as a center for food and culture, some aspects should be taken into consideration such as condusive learning and living environment that will gives a better environment in terms of facilities as well as sustainable feature in conjunction to serve the student/unemployed youth and at the same time can
promote culture and culinary tourism in Malaysia.
:Literature reviews, case study, interview & questionnaire survey :Lack of awareness in term of promoting our local food's destination and products where tourist can experience both our food and culture. Hence, culinary tourism in Malaysia should be in tandem with the cultural activity highlighted and Malaysia gastronomy should be upheld as a remarkable destination to enjoy the 'art of eating'( Zainal , Zali, Nizam, 2010).
:The proposed culinary retreat is comprised of a professional culinary school, a series of food service and retail facilities, a small inn and an apartment for staff and students and also surrounded with herb farm areas. Size : Approx 3-4 acres.
:The proposed site will be in Penang as Penang is one of the tourist's attraction and rich with famous foods and culture.

As Malaysia reaching to be a developed country in 2020, the scenario of Culinary Art Education has move ahead and getting popular among students and colleges. Nevertheless, many of the institutions are eager to introduce out comer menus instead of developing local delicacy and it reflects the proper identity of multi racial ethnics live in Malaysia. The Culinary Retreat project seeks to create a center for food and culture in order to promote cultural awareness and culinary tourism through culinary education and hospitality provided to the tourist. The proposed site for this project will be in Penang as Penang is known as no 2 among 'The 44 Places To Go in 2009' and 'Best Steet Food 2004' by Time Asia (Time Megazine, 2004). A depth study on both the objects and subjects and its relation to the issues is carried out which involves gathering primary data by case studies where observations, literature reviews and interviews are conducted. On top of that, secondary data is gathered using reliable printed and web based resources. The study has identified the planning layout and facilities as the focus to implement the condusive learning and living environment for Culinary Retreat.
