After reading the article, I feel that the overall security objective is the bombings and shootings that occurred in the mall and churches. It is definitely true that churches have been valued at being a safe santuary from the chaos of the world or in someone’s life. With the view of the church as a safe santuary, it leaves an impression that security detail is not really needed so much in them. It is also noted that some religious institutions may have an issue or issues with the sacredness of their religious domain and therefore feel that that sacredness may be violated.
The article speaks upon the attacks of churches and therefore there is a need for security and countermeasures to prevent or deter this type of behavior from happening again. The main objective for the church should be the safety of the members of their religious institution. As with the object of a mall, there is a great perimeter in which needs to be patrolled. It is common knowledge that the larger the area to be patrolled the greater the potential risk is.
When it comes to the safety of patrons in a mall or attendees of church, there should not be left out any security counter measure, especially in these days in time, with the increase in public crime. A security assessment should be made in all areas of vulnerability. A vulnerability assessment should definitely be made.
There were shooting in a church in which one was fatally injured, this should show that countermeasures should be taken for all public places. The countermeasures that should be explored are those that would focus on an escape plan with the access to contact the local authorities, so that they could arrive to detain the suspect if possible.
