Crime Data Comparison Paper

The two metropolitan areas that I have selected are New Orleans my hometown where I was born and raised before hurricane Katrina and Corpus Christi, Texas my new hometown where I have resided at since hurricane Katrina. The Criminal Offense for New Orleans and for Corpus Christi, Texas is Property Crime.

In 2005 the city of New Orleans held 463,072 people. And now its five years after hurricane Katrina and there are 343,829 people living in the still-recovering city. In racial breakdown of New Orleans they have 217,256 Blacks; 105,732 White; 16, 812 Hispanic; 10,806 Asian; two or more race 2,910; other race 969; American alone 365 (city-data 2010).

In 2005 the City of Corpus Christi, Texas held 286,462 people. And now after the City of Corpus Christi has help the survivors of hurricane Katrina the population has increased to 417,330 that is a 3.54% growth. In racial breakdown of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas they have 171,250 Hispanic; 95,725 White; 12,785 Black; 4,228 Asian; two or more races 2,316; American alone 667; other race 260 (city-data 2010).

In 2010 New Orleans and the City of Corpus Christi, Texas number one crime was property crime. New Orleans had 5,918 and Corpus Christi, Texas had 7,212. The United States has approximately 10 million property crimes occur each year. In 2010 New Orleans and Corpus Christi, Texas had the following crime numbers reported.
