Oísín‘s Story.

14th August 1998 (Friday)
Dear Diary,
I'm sorry I haven't been making much use of you lately but I have been very busy over the Summer Holidays. I've just this minute arrived home from Bundoran where I stayed for the week with my family: my mummy , my daddy , my younger brother Kevin and my grandma. It was the first time I'd stepped foot outside of Tyrone. Mummy said it was part of a treat because I'm starting what she calls "The Big School" in September.   When I'm older I'd like to travel and see the world more. I rather enjoyed Bundoran. It was good fun but I'm glad to be home at the same time; as the old saying goes, "There's no place like home".
I'm kind of excited to start a new school next month because I’ll get to see my friends again, I didn't really see them that much over the holidays, but I’m also nervous like every other child the same age as me. It's not going to be easy to get used to , with girls and everything! I wonder if they'll like me or not... Anyway, It's Saturday tomorrow and granny's taking me shopping in the town centre. She says she's getting me new school shoes, oh the joys. (I secretly enjoy outings with Granny; she's fun for an old person). I've pocket money left over from Bundoran, so hopefully Gran will take me to the arcades. I'm really tired so I'm going to bed, I'll write you an update later,
                                          Oísín.

Grandma and I got the two o’ clock direct bus to the town centre. When we got off we went for a bite to eat at the nearest café, just around the corner. We then went our separate ways and planned to meet up outside the shoe shop in Lower Market Street in half an hour. I went and spent all my pocket money in the... [continues]
