Option 3: Redemption in the Deep
The Song “In the Deep” written and also performed by Kathleen York was the main song in the movie Crash. The song was also nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song. As a music critic, I’m going to analyze an excerpt of the song.

to rest our heart upon

In the deep
In this part of the song, it is basically explaining how someone thought they had everything in their life figured out, and was sure that nothing could go wrong. Then out of nowhere something bad and unexpected happens. Whatever trouble you are now in, it’s going to be hard to get out of.
Life keeps tumbling your heart in circles
Till you let go
Till you shed your pride and you climb to heaven
And you throw yourself off
Now you’re out there spinning in the deep.
This part of the excerpt was a little harder to analysis, but I think I have figured out the message. The excerpt mean you keep trying to fix the problems, but you can’t. You finally give up and let it go from there. Once that happens you basically have no control at all over the situation. You then put your trust in God, and let him take over.
The song and the movie share similarities as far as an overall message goes. The message for the song is that whenever you are in any trouble that you can’t handle. There is always another option. The movie gives off that same message at some points.
Redemption is the action of saving or being saved from sin, error, or evil. The song relates to the song because of the term redemption. Redemption happened in the song when God saved the person. Redemption happened in the movie whenever the characters were saving each other.
