This movie shows what goes on in the world today regarding racism and stereotypes within our society. The director tries to show how societies view themselves and others in the world based on their ethnicities. This movie is a mixture of several different stories showing different people’s lives, all of the people are of different races, with different beliefs. The ethnicities include Caucasians, Hispanics, African Americans, Middle Easterners and Asians. The movie includes conflicts on both sides of the picture for cops and criminals as well from being rich or poor.
In the movie Crash, race and culture are major themes that can be seen in the lives of the characters in the film. Once character, Cameron, a presitigiouscolor vision director, displays the friction between two cultures. He belongs to the educated, upper class of the LA area. He is an African American man, but he seems to have no ties with that class. He is married to a light-skinned wife, attends award shows, and it appears in the movie that his acquaintances are mostly white. When he and his wife get pulled over by a racist cop, he experiences emotions of being powerless and helplessness that he never experienced or thought he would due to his upbringing and place in the society he lived in. After the incident with the cop, Cameron goes through a huge transformation where he comes to grips with his background and how he fits into these two clashing cultures.
Rick is another character in the movie. He is the white district attorney of LA who manipulates racial politics in order to further his career. He and his wife are carjacked by Anthony and Peter, both men are black. Fearing a loss of support in the black community as the election approaches, Rick arranges for his assistant to blackmail Detective Graham Waters, who is black, into testifying against a white cop whom Graham thinks is innocent in order to create a press event that will reassure voters of Cabot’s racial sensitivity....
