Dear Supt. Hollinger:
Please consider me a candidate for the potential teaching position for the 2012-2014 school year at Cross County Community Schools. I have graduated from the University of Nebraska Lincoln with a Bachelor’s degree of Education with an endorsement in English. I am willing to support any after school programs or coach volleyball or track. My degree allows me to teach in any K-8 teaching position, and I am specially certified to teach all of the basic English studies at both the elementary and middle school levels. I not only meet all of the requirements in order to teach, but I also have extensive experience running organizations that include children of all ages. While in college I volunteered at the Boys and Girls Club in Sioux City, in which I coordinated various activities for the children in that area. I also was involved in assisting Mrs. Susan Smith in after school English clubs for children K-6 at the local library. As stated on my resume, I have over 150+ hours of field experience, where I was able to observe and assist first hand in many types of educational programs. I have completed my student teaching at Leeds Elementary School, under Mr. Steve Taylor and Mrs. Sheila Collins. I have gained experience through direct teaching opportunities. I have an adequate amount of practice in teaching elementary English, Math, Social Studies, and Science. I have practiced organizational skills and developed classroom management skills during the student teaching process. I have gained content area background in English, including survey courses in world, British, and American literature, as well as courses in grammar and linguistics.
