Abstract
In this study, racism and social classes were examined. Mentioned how they are exist. Under the concepts of social inequality and social stratification, racism and social classes were analyzed. Such concepts which are influential in determining the social class; power, wealth, prestige and status were examined and analyzed according to races. Conflicts caused by inequalities in the society were explained with conflict theory. Explained some cases according to structural functional theory such as; the balance provided by powerless and powerful, the upper layers of people to develop themselves more and their achievements raises. Karl Marx’s, Weber’s and Davis-Moore‘s theories analyzed. According to Weber’s theory correlation between race and class explained. Effects of discrimination and prejudice to this correlation are analyzed. Key words: Social stratification, social class, racism, prejudice, discrimination

INTRODUCTION

This study was performed to clarify the relationship between race and class. Social stratification is the first point has been maintained to explain this relationship. Social stratification is the situation of separating individuals into different strata and different levels due to some inequalities between them. There are some factors such as power, dignity, beliefs, culture, education and race on the basis of these differences. Because of these factors inequalities and divisions have occurred in societies. In this study; social stratification, social inequalities and divisions were examined through sociological perspective and various theories about this subject. According to this theories social class which is the one of the forms of social stratification, is explained. According to Weber’s theory correlation between race and class explained. Racism and racial discriminations were mentioned and how this distinctions caused by inequalities is explained. Advantages and disadvantages of the races and how they determined their social class is explained. Prejudices against to races impede to take them equal economic and social advantages and opportunities. Therefore the unequal distribution of wealth, political power and social status between races causes they take part in different level of classes. As a result, aim of this theory to present the correlation between races and classes and the causes of this relation. During this study, many books were used as a source and many well-known theories are utilized.

A. Social Stratification
Social strata are collections of people who have similar advantages and disadvantages in life. The process of social stratification is the situation of separating people into different levels and strata according to their power, wealth, status, race and so on. Social stratification refers to all forms of inequality based on class, gender, ethnicity, age and political power. All societies throughout history were experienced process of stratification because of three acting factor: economic, political and social. Economic stratification is result from the unequal distribution of assets and property. Political stratification is result from unequal distribution of the political power .Social stratification is result from the unequal distribution of the social status.
