I chose to do my research paper on Copyright, Intellectual Property and Innovation. I begin doing photography as a hobby about twelve years ago, and I would always say I want my pictures out in public so everyone can see them. At the same time getting credit for my work would be great as well. I made a face book “like” page to get my photos seen to the public but has my name attached to them. Everyone can browse through and comment or like my photos. As I’m taking my photography to the next level I really need my photos copyrighted and attached to my name as the main source.
There is an ongoing debate regarding the use of intellectual property rights to foster innovation in the software industry. The purpose of Intellectual Property Rights is to give statutory expression to the moral and economic rights of creators in their creations. And to promote creativity, and the dissemination and application of its results, and to encourage fair trade, which would contribute to economic and social development. Industrial property, which includes inventions (patents), trademarks, industrial designs, and geographic indications of source copyright, which includes literary and artistic works such as novels, poems and plays, films, musical works, dance, artistic works such as drawings, paintings, photographs , sculptures, and architectural designs.
The importance of copyright is that it’s a legal term describing rights given to creators for their literary and artistic works. I believe that everyone has a creative mind, or an idea, as soon as you put it out there it yours and you should be given credit for it.
Knowing the importance of copyrighted items will help people not steal other’s material and just cite it correctly. What is covered by copyright? Novels, plays, poems, reference works, newspapers and computer programs. Databases, films, musical compositions, and choreography.
