Cooking versus Take-Out

I enjoy the tastes of good food in a variety of different cultures and ethnic backgrounds.   I like Italian dishes, Mexican food, and the classic American dishes, but my problem is learning to cook all the foods my family and I enjoy.   Take into consideration the time it takes to prepare a complicated dish that is full of different ingredients, spices, preparation time, and control.   If I were to choose a method for enjoying a wonderful delicious meal would I enjoy it more if I cooked it myself or would the difference be any better if I ordered the same meal from a restaurant.   I love to cook and I learned from my Mother, I use to wonder why she made us watch her prepare certain dishes and she always told us, “A good cook always tastes the food that they prepare before you serve it to someone else”.   The words are what I live by.   Do you think that they taste the food at restaurants?

    Time is of the essence that is why I stop at the local take out restaurant, the kids will be home soon, and I do not have time to prepare the meal for tonight.   What shall it be? Burgers, chicken, barbecue, the choices are endless, the preparation unknown.   Who is cooking all of this takeout food that my kids seem to enjoy.   I wonder as I pull up to the drive thru window of the popular chicken restaurant, and I look at the Health department issued grade for the restaurant, which shows the grade of 97.   What does that mean? I do not know the standards by which the Health department would grade a restaurant, so I consider the score and wonder to my self is it good enough?

    At home I take my time with sorting the ingredients for the meal I am going to prepare, and I wash, clean, and season the meat I intend to cook.   I think of side items to go along with the chosen main course; mash potatoes, rice, or pasta.   Oh!
