Continuous and comprehensive evaluation is an education system newly introduced by Central Board of Secondary Education in India, for classes 9th and 10th.

Continuous and comprehensive evaluation was formulated by Education Minister, Kapil Sibal to decrease the accumulated stress of board exams on the students and to introduce a more uniform and comprehensive pattern in education for the children all over the nation.

As a part of this new system, student's marks will be replaced by grades which will be evaluated through a series curricular and extra-curricular evaluations along with academics. The aim is to reduce the workload on students and to improve the overall skill and ability of the student by means of evaluation of other activities. Grades are awarded to students based on work experience skills, dexterity, innovation, steadiness, teamwork, public speaking, behaviour, etc. to evaluate and present an overall measure of the student's ability. This helps the students who are not good in academics to show their talent in other fields such as arts, humanities, sports, music, athletics, etc.

Since this system was introduced only in 2010, the reviews have been mixed.

The CCE generally received mixed responses from parents, students and teachers. Many feel that the decision to remove the Annual Holidays in-between the 2 grades, would lead to more stress as students would not start the new year after returning from a break.

Many schools did close down for two months in the summer, thereby giving students their annual holidays, but this lead to a very rushed first term, leading to lot of criticism. Many believe the rush was caused due to the fact that the portions were designed such that they could be completed in the stipulated time period, but since schools had shut down, they were forced to rush through the portions, causing a lot of stress to the students.
