CHAPTER I
INTRODUCTION
A. Background of Study

Nowadays, people often eat or consume squash as the alternative way for hypertension recovery. Squash has many superiorities mainly in nutrient contents compared than other Cucurbitaceae plants. The fibres, folates, and carbohydrate contents in the fruit helped us to prevent our body health. Beside that, the diuretic effect is very useful for uric acid recovery. (Mlandhing in langsungenak.com, 2010).

Some countries in the world are cultivating squash for the staple food beside as the alternative recovery. For example, in Mexico people are eating squash as the secondary staple food. Squash is included in easy-planted. It can be planted in various area in various weather. That’s why, squash can be found in many countries in the world (ayobertani.wordpress.com, 2009). As the main producen for squash, Costa Rica is the biggest squash exporter in the world for now (wikipedia.org, 2010). Indonesia is trying to export this kind of plant for it’s easy to grow from every nook and cranny in Indonesia (rudyct.com), eventhough the competition between China is undefeated (koran-jakarta.com).

Since long time ago, the traditional recovery has been using squash for recover and prevent diseases. The traditional recovery with using squash could be the inside usage or the outside usage. Squash is often used to prevent bleeding in gums, healing sprue, to clear the black line on heel, and many other (kautsarku.wordpress.com). The traditional recovery just as the example is based on the experiences and passed on from one generation to the other, but it hasn’t proved the scientificness.

Therefore, the research about squash’s advantages and contents in it is on the way. Finally, we know that there are kalium substances in squash’s fruit. And the kalium substances are very much. Kalium could reduce the high-tension in blood. Thereby, the hypertension sufferers are recommended to eat much squash. Because squash ‘apparently’ could reduce the blood tension (Budi Prakoso, S.E, M.Si in sehatherbal.com, 2007).

Based on these fact, this experiment is to know the effect of the hypotension sufferers if they eat or consume squash with giving comparison between the experiment result of hypertension sufferers before. I hope this experiment could clear the recovery information in people circumstances nowadays.

B. Identification of The Problem

Based on the background of the study, we could get some problems. There are : 1. What are the superiority of squash compared than the other Cucurbitaceae plants? 2. What is the effect in squash that could help the uric acid sufferers? 3. How’s the management of squash trading in Indonesia? 4. What are diseases that could recover if we eat or consume squash regularly? 5. Why the hypertension sufferers are recommended to eat squash? 6. What is the effect if the hypotension sufferers often eat squash? 7. How is the result with consuming squash for the hypotension sufferers?

C. The Limitation of The Problem

To make the discussion of research more accurate, the problem of research would be limit into point 6 and point 7 only that are : 1. The effect if the hypotension sufferers often eat squash 2. The result with consuming squash for the hypotension sufferers

D. Formulation of The Problem

Based on the background of study, identification, and limitation of the problem, we could formulate the problem of research into : 1. What is the effect if the hypotension sufferers often eat squash? 2. How’s the result with consuming squash for the hypotension sufferers?

E. The Objectives of The Study

The objectives of this study are :
1. To know the effect if the hypotension sufferers often eat squash 2. To know the result with consuming squash for the hypotension sufferers
