Consulting Firm
Transitional Life Care (TLC) Consulting Firm is the creation of Team B. This paper summarizes the type of consulting firm and the services TLC offers. Each team member’s roles in the firm and her duties and responsibilities are described. In addition, a detailed analysis of how the content and concepts from five undergraduate core courses facilitated the analysis, development, and preparation of TLC Consulting Firm. Mission Statement

Transitional Life Care Consultant Firm’s mission is to facilitate client growth with transition through life events and life changes. TLC consultants strive to join with others to create the conditions under which all people with transitional needs will experience opportunities to develop and exercise competence; encouragement to make choices in the pursuit of personal growth, presence, and participation in the transitional process; respect and dignity through the promotion of protection from abuse and neglect and isolation; opportunities for self-advocacy that empower each client to articulate his or her needs; and reduce the negative stress surrounding many life changes. Summary of Firm and Services

Transition from one situation to another can be stressful; it is a process of progress forward. The Holmes-Rahe Scale (1967) lists 43 life events and life changes that contribute to one’s stress level. Each member of this team has personal experience as well as education, which would benefit a consultant firm with a mission to assist people in some form of transition. Two of the team members have direct experience with transition from state Foster Care programs, three members have been small business owner/operators, and four members have direct educational experience fitting the human services need. The strengths of this team indicate strong organizational skills, leadership, and empathy. The qualities complement one another well for this type of consulting firm.

This consultant firm’s mission is to assist clients during transitional times, which occur during the natural course of life. The firm will apply human services ethical concepts to establish and fulfill human needs on the physical and emotional levels. The consultants can work in all environments from live in to drop in to meet the needs of the client/patients. The services provided are by contract and intended to assist the client with the transitional experience. As the transitional experiences vary from client to client, so will the individualized services.

So if change is so great, why do we fear it? We fear it because change always involves

destroyed….Our inhibition comes as we face the prospect of replacing the familiar with
the unknown. At the junction of those two realities, most of us retreat. Usually it is only
after the change is thrust upon us that we accept it because we often realize our lives
actually will be better. (Parry, 1997, p. 93)
Family Consulting Services
TLC will address a variety of family and organizational transitional issues such as family services that include childcare and foster care services, and consulting services to organizations who offer transition services. In addition to family services and childcare services, TLC will help those who are aging out of foster care make the transition to independent living. The sole purpose of TLC is to provide services to those in need by setting them up with the right agencies and programs. Training Services

TLC will offer consulting services to organizations who offer transition services. These organizations may vary in their mission but TLC has specific services to assist in many types...
