MODULE 14: Constructivism: Knowledge Construction/ Concept Learning

From the module on Knowledge Construction/ Concept Learning this module teaches about the behavioristic and cognitive views of learning. I learned that it aims the learners understand a few key ideas in an in-depth manner, rather than taking up so many topics superficially.

In this module, it talks about the views in Two Types Constructivism and the Characteristics of Constructivism. The types of constructivism are the Individual Constructivism and Social Constructivism. This types will know what kind of students will be having in the future. The characteristic will help social interactions of the students. Organizing knows as ledge the concept a way of grouping or categorizing objects or events in our mind. There are lots of kinds of concept like feature lists, prototypes, exemplars.

As a future educator, I should do this to help us to facilitate our own class in the future. Do not depend on the explanation method all the time.

MODULE 15: Transfer of Learning

This module Transfer of Learning, it happens when learning in one context or with one set of materials affects performance in another context or with other related materials.

The transfer of learning have lots of effective way to teach this. First, positive transfer this is when a child wants to know about something easier than the others. Second, negative transfer this is the students are having hard time to know about the phonetics sounds and they are used to use their native language. Third, near transfer this is when they discover things familiar with their other activities. Fourth, far transfer this transfer is really different from the others because they use sayings that are hard to get. Last is the conditions and principles of transfer this help to implicate the learning’s to the students. As a future educator, this transfer of learning’s are very important as a facilitator near future because we are the one who teaches our students and we are their models.

MODULE 16: Facilitating Learning and Bloom’s Taxonomy of Objectives
From the module on Facilitating Learning and Bloom’s Taxonomy of Objectives, I learned to identify and articulate learning objectives facilitates learning. With specific and clear learning objectives, we don’t have to grope in the dark on what to accomplish. To facilitate learning , we begin teaching with facts, stating, memorized rules, principles, or definitions which must to lead to formulating and understanding concepts, rules and principles. Bloom’s taxonomy of objectives in the cognitive domain comes different levels from knowledge or recall to evaluation. A proof of the comprehension of concepts and principles is the application of these learned concepts and principles is the real life situations. For an in depth understanding and mastery of these applied concepts, rules and principles, these are broken into parts which are subjected to a keen process of analysis. As a teacher someday, I should be able to differentiate the differentiate levels of Bloom’s Taxonomy, be able to formulate objectives reflecting the levels of the taxonomy and to write high level questions reflective of Bloom’s Taxonomy.
