After reading this essay, I came to the conclusion that we should pay more care to how we use water because it’s a precious resource, one that may seem plentiful to many of us, but it’s rare enough in some areas of the world. Let us not take water for granted, let us preserve it before it’s too…

Missoula Conservation district says that watering lawns on sunny days is not beneficial – when the temperature reaches over 78 degrees the water will not absorb in the ground and will not be useful to the lawn or pasture. The most conservation friendly way to water land is just after dark when the temperature is dropping and the plants are not in direct sunlight. Some people around Missoula have adopted a new landscaping that requires no or less water; this is called drought tolerant landscaping. This landscaping requires 75% less water than normal lawns and contains rock, brick, or wood chips, which require no water at…

You can make it about three weeks without food, but you can only make it about three days without water. I guess you can say that water is pretty important. In Flint Michigan, they can’t even drink their water without a serious risk to your health. About two years ago, the state decided to save money by switching Flint's water supply from Lake Huron, to the Flint River. This plan backfired. Many problems have began to occur as a result, so if we don’t fix this water one major problem soon, this issue will only got worse.…

Water pollution has become a major problem in our water sources. People think that when they litter or dump in our waters that their little contribution will not hurt anything, but everyone’s little contributions add up to some major problems. Our water ecosystems and the species that reside in them are being destroyed and we need to take the steps necessary to stop this. Why would anyone use the source of most of the world’s food as a dumping ground for garbage? People need to start realizing what it is they are doing when they do not take the proper steps to dispose of their garbage and the problems they are making for the future.…

    Saving water runoff

Have you ever driven down the street during a rainy day, avoiding the large puddles or temporary streams running rapidly towards the corner drain pipe? Or if like many others, have you driven rapidly through the puddles to make the biggest wave possible? Most do not have to wonder where that water ends up because they know. Society hears the news about the storm-water run-off problems, or the pollution of the beaches because the storm drains cannot handle the volume of water. Even with drought conditions, there are billions of gallons of fresh water being dumped into the ocean every year, becoming salt water, unusable for human consumption, unusable for agriculture, only to be pumped back through a desalinization plant for redistribution to the public. Moreover, given California’s water shortage, billions of taxpayer dollars are being spent to build a plant to make salt water into fresh water. However, besides the cost there is the issue of what to do with the waste created as expressed in the book The Ripple Effect:…

The states, countries, territories and even entire continents feel the effects and understand the need for conservation. However, the areas that do not experience the effects do not comprehend the harm their careless actions create. For example, a person who takes an hour shower every day wastes two and a half gallons per minute. The water used equals out to over three hundred and seventy-five gallons per day for the common fifteen-minute shower for many Americans. There are many ways to help conserve water even if the common opinion is that conservation is unnecessary. The Water scarcity is a global issue that needs more…

Have you ever wondered how long you can live without drinking water? It is not a difficult question if you know a little bit about yourself. When it is hot, you need to drink water; when you eat, you need to drink water. However, you can live without having a shower; let us make it clear, you are going to be the one who is there, alone, nobody is going to like you but you can survive anyway. Water is the main component of animal living matter; it constitutes 50 to 90 percent of these living organisms. Protoplasm, which is the basis matter of animal living cells, consists of fat, carbohydrates, and protein solution similar to water when combined[1]. Therefore, we all should understand the importance of water resources as an important part of our existence. Without this resource, life is not possible on earth. On the contrary, the development of human societies has lead to the depletion of our water resources. This is mainly due to the fact that nature is not at the top of the of people’s list when it comes to a development of the economy; it is funny how we give priority to the greed, instead of being alive and healthy to enjoy life. We only want to use the available resources without ever considering saving them. Moreover, water conservation encompasses the policies, strategies and activities to manage fresh water as a sustainable resource in order to meet current and future human demand, just as population, household size and affluence all affect how much water is used. Factors such as climate change will increase pressures on natural water resources, especially in manufacturing and agricultural irrigation; climate change may also reduce the amount of snow, shrink the glaciers and reduce water supplies[2].…

Californians should conserve the water resources in order to lower the excessive use of water. The state’s water resources are receding rapidly as it has recently experienced very dry years, such as 2014 which was the third driest year on record. According to the California Department of Water Resources, “[a drought] can best be thought of as a condition of water shortage for a particular user in a location.” California has been experiencing water shortages for quite some time now. State Governor, Jerry Brown, declared a drought state of emergency on January 17, 2014 (California Drought). Since that time, the situation has only become worse as nobody is making a change to help the cause. I believe that we have to save the water now for the…

    Our Water Is Running Out

Our Water is Running Out Boston Globe - January 6, 2002 By Jeffrey Rothfeder For those of us who can turn on the faucet confident that there will be steady stream of clean water for bathing, drinking, cooking, washing dishes, the thought that the world could go dry seems incomprehensible. But the reality we face is sobering: water -- nature's most essential element -- is becoming dangerously scarce. A freshwater crisis has already begun that threatens to leave much of the world dry in the next 20 years, without enough water for a minimum of life.…

    Tips to Save Water

10 Ways to Save Water in the Home: 1. Keep a pitcher of water in the refrigerator instead of running the tap for cold drinks. This way, every drop goes down you and not the drain. 2. If you shorten your shower by a minute or two, you'll save up to 150 gallons per month. 3. Designate one glass to use for your drinking water each day or refill a water bottle. This will cut down on the number of glasses to wash. 4. Soak pots and pans instead of letting the water run while you scrape them clean. 5. Turn off the water while brushing your teeth and save 25 gallons a month. 6. Turn off the water while you shave and save up to 300 gallons a month. 7. If you accidentally drop ice cubes when filling your glass from the freezer, or have ice left over from a take-out drink, don't throw them in the sink. Drop them in a house plant instead. 8. The toilet is not an ashtray or wastebasket. Don’t use it as a dumping ground for tissues, cigarette butts, or other small pieces of trash. Every time you flush, five to seven gallons of water is wasted. 9. Put plastic bottles filled with sand or pebbles and water in your toilet tank to cut down on water waste. This may save ten or more gallons of water per day, but be sure at least 3 gallons of water remain in the tank so it will flush properly. 10. Newer dishwashers are very efficient, no need to rinse those dishes, just load them straight in to the dishwasher! Visit Vere Sandals Fan us on Facebook Follow us on Twitter More on World Water Day…
