There are various significant Golden Rules that Confucius expressed, although I only find a certain amount of them to be important in my life. On the other hand, I disagree with the rest of his reflection on human life. There is only one quote I strongly agree with, that is “everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it.” I believe everything has beauty but everyone else is blind not to see it. Physical features are the only detail on a person that everyone seems to care about. We, humans, tend to ignore the person’s personality simply because they are not appealing to our liking. This is why I believe this quote, “everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it”, is accurate. One quote I highly disagree with is, “It is more shameful to distrust our friends than to be deceived by them.” You are not able to distrust your friends unless they deceive you. Definition of friends, in my dictionary, is to trust them with what one is telling them. If one do not trust someone, why would one need to befriend them? Also, if they are truly one’s friends, why would they try to deceive one? One expression from Confucius that I always use in my everyday situation is, “Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.” There are many times I’ve faced a situation and it was to the point that I did not want to continue on. But I know if I stopped, I would have failed myself and so I went on with the situation. In the end, I came out on top and feeling satisfied by it. In my conclusion, Confucius creates a great reflection about human life but like any other human, he made mistakes as well.
