Confidentiality: Abuse and Young People
Safeguarding the welfare of children and young people.

The United Nations convention on the rights of the child (1989)
Built on varied legal systems and cultural traditions, the convention is a set of non-negotiable standards and obligations. These basic standards are the minimum requirements that should be respected by all governments. They are founded on respect for the dignity and worth of each individual, regardless of race, colour, gender, language, religion, opinions, origins, wealth, birth status or ability and therefore apply to every human being everywhere. The act is a legally binding document between international governments making sure that it is realized that children, as well as adults also have human rights.
Children’s act 1989
Is designed to help keep children safe and well, by providing appropriate services if/when required. It is the general duty of every parent and local authority to safeguard and promote the welfare of children who are in need. Local authorities can therefore provide services and support to help families stay together, but require some guidance to do this. It is a guide to help intervene, so that any child should not be at risk from suffering significant harm.
Education act 2002
States that the following agencies/individuals have a duty of care and responsibility to safeguard children and young people, to keep them safe and free from harm. Local authority, governing bodies, head teachers, teachers, teaching assistants, or anybody else that comes into contact with children or young people through a school setting.
Children act 2004
The act is ultimately in place to make a safer environment for children of all ages to be in. It creates a system in which official entities work closely together to improve the over-all well-being of children and young people. It means that information can be shared between services to promote the welfare and early identification of need. It also puts earlier
