Concussions are one of the most pressing issue in sports today. I. What is a concussion? Symptoms and causes.

I. What is a concussion?
A) Your brain is a soft organ that is surrounded by spinal fluid and protected by your hard skull. Normally, the fluid around your brain acts like a cushion that keeps your brain from banging into your skull. But if your head or your body is hit hard, your brain can crash into your skull and be injured.

B) A concussion is a type of traumatic brain injury that is caused by a blow to the head or body, a fall, or another injury that jars or shakes the brain inside the skull. C) Symptoms of a concussion can be very mild or severe and can last anywhere from a couple of hours to weeks. Include Headache, Nausea, Vomiting, balance problems, Dizziness, Fatigue, Dazed, difficulty concentrating, Forgetful, repeats questions, irritability, sadness, nervousness, drowsiness. D)You do not have to be unconscious to have suffered a concussion. In fact, only 1 of 10 players will be knocked unconscious from concussions. E)Repeated concussions or a severe concussion may require surgery or lead to long-lasting problems with movement, learning, or speaking. II. Long Lasting effects?

Chronic traumatic encephalopathy is a degenerative, dementia-like brain disease linked to repeated brain trauma. The disease has been found in the brains of 14 of 15 former NFL players studied at the Boston University School of Medicine Center for the Study of Traumatic Encephalopathy as of May 2011. This new information shows that there is a long lasting effect from repeated concussions. Some players, There is currently a lawsuit being brought against the nfl by about many former players.
