For my concert report, I decided to go with a group of friends to see the Drew Holcomb band at Fitzgerald’s in Houston on March 30th.
Drew Holcomb is a success story at its best. Drew and his wife Ellie who also tours in the bad for her awesome vocals started there career as singers for Young life camps all around the country. His style of music is a mix between soft rock, country and folk. Soon after, they got there name out and started to tour parts of the country, mostly south and eventually there new record “Live Forever” was the number 1 singer and songwriter album on Itunes last week. The first time I heard Drew Holcomb was at my first Young Life camp in Colorado, I was completely blown away.
This concert however will definitely be put in my top 5 of all time. Drew started the concert of with one of his old singles “Fire and Dynamite” a great song about love and compassion for one another. A few songs came by and I found myself screaming at the top of my lungs. Drew is great at what he does and one of those things is creating popular music with biblical messages inside of it. His new single “live forever” is a song about living eternal life with someone, although he does not explain who that someone is. Myself being a christian I can tell you exactly who he is talking about but for others who just enjoy the sounds of his guitar and voice have no clue. Thats what makes this concert stand out so much to me, I had never noticed that part of his music before until he became remotely popular. Drew will always be a favorite of mine and I look forward to going back to one of his concerts again. [continues]
