Peter Sprague Beatles Concert Report
This concert held by the Peter Sprague Band and performs at the UCSD campus. The concert begins from 8:00 pm and end by 10:00 pm. Most of the audiences are UCSD students and taking some kinds of music class. Therefore, the main group of the audiences in this concert is age at around twenty and dresses casually. Before the band perform, there is a chorus sings several songs in order to warm up the concert. The chorus has eight guys and seven girls that are all wearing black dress or suits. Some of them are b-box players which using their mouth as instruments to accompany the lead vocals. And the rest of the members take turn to being the lead vocal. During their performance, they are trying to have some eye contacts with the audiences. The chorus sings “Hey Jude” by The Beatles as their last song to finish their performs. Later on, the Peter Sprague Band begins their performance. The band has six members. Peter Sprague plays double guitar. Tripp Sprague plays saxophone, flute and harmonica. Anthony Smith plays keyboards. Gunnar Biggs plays cello bass. Doncan Moore plays drums. Leonard Patton is on lead vocal. They are all mid-age men and wearing some kind of casual wears, such as t-shirts and jeans. Different from the chorus, the members like to have more reaction with their band mates instead of the audiences during their performance. Peter Sprague is a big fan of The Beatles, that the band plays the songs “Got to Get You into My Life,” “Oh! Darling,” “With a Little Help From My Friends,” “Within You Without You,” “And I Love Her,” “ I Just Seen the Face” and “Hey, Jude” from The Beatles. Different from The Beatles, the lead vocal of the band using jazz angled to demonstrate those songs. During their performance, members have their own instruments solo times.
