Concert at Grandfather Mountain Campgrounds
The concert was amazing, very chill and relaxed setting. The weather was perfect the entire weekend with mild temperature and plenty of sunshine. The festival was not extremely crowded, bathrooms and tent grounds had plenty of room. Camped on Grandfather Mountain Campgrounds, a truly badass place at the base of the mountain. An icon of Western North Carolina, Grandfather soars to almost 6,000 feet in elevation, a major peak in the Blue Ridge. No problems throughout the festival, ran smoothly. Railroad Earth killed it every night, great lights and awesome sound. Energy of the crowd was amazing, everybody had high spirits. Nobody at the festival missed Railroad Earth when they came out to play. A band I knew very little about blew me away. One of my favorite bands now from the MOMT 2012. Railroad Earth is the ultimate highlight of the festival, three days of them was almost not enough. Dr. Dog played on friday, awesome band. They started the festival off right giving the crowd great energy. One of my favorite bands at the concert, brought plenty of people in front of the stage to dance. Dr. Dog and Futurebirds sounded different than most of the other bands. The other bands had more of a bluegrass sound. Dr. Dog and Futurebirds sounded more rock, both very good. Futurebirds struck me as a little grunge with great sound. The flag hanging off one of Futurebirds guitars was awesome. The food was awesome, pizza and quesadillas become a favorite of mine. A small amount of food vendors, small tents with clothing and hammocks for sale. Oh yeah, No BEER tent. Strange thing for a music festival to have no alcohol for sale. The mood of the festival was very relaxed and chill. People lounging around on the grass with plenty of room to listen to great music. Cooking and camping outside of the stage area was a fun time. Get to the festival early if you want a secluded camp spot! Great weekend that I will never

I went to see Overture to King Stephen, Op. 117 and Symphony No. 2 in D major, Op. 36, both composed by Ludwig van Beethoven and performed by Los Angeles Philharmonic at Disney Hall on December 31 2012. The music group consisted of about sixty-three bowed string instrumentalists, ten woodwind instrumentalists, nine brass instrumentalists and four percussion instruments and the conductor is Esa-Pekka Salonen.…

On Friday, December 6th, I attended the Sac State Vocal Jazz Ensembles. The show began with special guests Christian Brothers Vocal Jazz. This young group of singers were extremely talented for their age. They held their harmonies and expressed their talents in each piece they performed. It was quite impressive and heartwarming because these students looked so into the music that it showed the passion they have for singing and vocal jazz. Following these talented young students, the Sac State Jazz Singers came on stage and did an excellent job at their pieces as well. I appreciated the song choices and arrangements for each piece. They definitely showed the hard work and practice they put into each piece and I overly enjoyed the show they put on. With all of the songs from both groups, dynamics, harmonies, unison, scatting, and different rhythms, especially in 4/4 time signature, were portrayed throughout.…

The concert was somewhat as I expected to be. The concert was so formal and organized. . Even though I had some prejudgments about the concert at first, I enjoyed listening to these pieces live. I will try to attend future classical music concerts. There were some parts where the management team could have done better. The artist demonstrated dynamics, technique, harmony and togetherness beautifully. Before leaving the concert hall I was able to speak briefly with some of the musicians, they were very helpful in answering my questions about the…

The night was perfect and the crowd was friendly with a diverse group of all ages old and young. Crowds of people filled the parking lot with sounds of Kid Rock blasting through car speakers and people enjoying their pre-show cocktails. Outside the venue Kid's cars were roped off for fans to check out and take photos. Entering DTE you could smell the aroma of Clarkston's own Union Station Restaurants famous mac and cheese and the Woodshop Resaurants barbeque. As we made our way toward the concert area the local Shriner's were selling Kid Rock/Shriners t-shirts with the proceeds going the organization. I really thought it was great that Kid was utilizing local buisness owners and charities during these hometown shows as well as the low dough show he was offering!…

I attended The Works of Thomas Root on Tuesday, March 24th. It featured the Weber State University wind ensemble and symphonic band as well as the WSU Band Alumni. There were many pieces conducted and created by Thomas Root. Most pieces were still unpublished but they were wonderful nonetheless. He also had pieces that were dedicated to people that he had come to meet throughout his life, and a piece was dedicated to his own mother.…

In addition, the festival pertained of people bringing in their classic cars to see which car was the best. What shocked me was that men worked months in order to prepare their cars for this festival. They had trophies for the best classic car contest up to 20th place so one can just imagine how many cars surrounded the festival. Also I had the opportunity to listen to live rock n roll music all day. There were different rock n roll bands alternating all day to get to hear a variety of rock n roll music. What I enjoyed most about the music was the fact that some members of the bands were playing unknown instruments to me that introduced me to new sounds and melodies. The bands were even selling their albums to the crowd in order to fundraise for the scholarship.…

Bands of America was very cool this year! The bus ride went very well, only problem being that every bump hit would rewind the movie that was playing. Once we got there everything went very smoothly. I got to help the band moms put the hat boxes in order! Warm ups there were a lot of jitters in the air it seemed, but not bad ones. Waiting to get on the field was extremely nerve wracking. But, once we got on the field everything seemed nice and mellow, like we were back on the field at home, it just had a different crowd and background. I feel really good about the performance. We did the best we could do and our best got us third in our class! Heading to the hotel and getting to lay down and rest was very nice and much needed. The food was…
