A few of the main types of computers include servers, mainframe computers, and embedded computers. An advantage of using a server is that your files are very secure since they can be set with permissions for only certain users to access them and a disadvantage is that they can be expensive. An advantage of using a mainframe system is that it can run multiple sessions at one time with high reliability and a disadvantage is that it occupies a lot of space and gets heated easily. An advantage of using an embedded computer is that it runs faster and a disadvantage is that it has a lot of modular add ons.

Computerhe arithmetic logic unit. It is an advantage to have a higher CPU like i7 so you have a fast processer. It is a disadvantage to have an i3 because it runs slower than others. The ROM (Random Only Memory) can’t be changed, moved, or rewritten. I is able to retain it’s contents even if the computer is turned off. The fact that it can’t be changed is actually a disadvantage of ROM because it is very inflexible. The RAM (Random Access Memory) acts as the computer’s short-term memory. It stores the data temporarily as it is being processed. It also helps to speed up the computer loading up programs. A disadvantage of RAM is that it causes your computer to overheat if you’re using a lot of programs at once.

The system software in a computer provides the instructions the computer needs to run. It contains the directions needed to start up the computer (known as the boot process). Computer software consists of two main types of programs: the operating system and utility programs. Application software is made of programs that enable you to accomplish tasks and use the computer in a productive manner.
