The word “Innovation” itself describes to us as creating new product or reproduces the product that is been existed in market in a new manner with an intention of gaining more profit Meanwhile ‘financial innovation’ describes generations creating new or creative approaches to reduce cost, reduce risk, and produce an improved product, services or financial system. Bank is the most involved party in these types of innovations (Birenjan,2010) There are two type of financial innovation:

1. New product / product innovation- usually will introduce new financial products such new hire purchase, leasing, subprime mortgage ,risk management and etc

2. Process/ services innovation- this innovation is basically about new business adapting new method to increase efficiency of the business. Famous service innovation nowadays is internet banking. Besides that, there are many more such as making use of prepaid card, debit card and credit card

The research objectives design in this research is to see differences in financial innovation under Malaysia banking system and United State America(USA) banking system.. From this research we could see the different level of innovation in both countries. The research objectives are to investigate the: a) Differences in product innovation between Malaysia banking system and USA banking system

b) Differences in services innovation between Malaysia banking system and USA banking system

c) the good impact of these innovation in both countries

2.1 Product innovation

2.1.1 Malaysia

Beginning year 2000, Malaysia came out with a new scheme called ‘sukuk’. Sukuk is a way to raise capital in a Syariah manner, at the same time expanding the investor base and offering investment opportunities to new groups in business market (Shariq,2005)

2.1.2 US

US Government Issue bond to help investors to establish their business. Bond is a written promise to pay back a specific amount of money at a certain date in the future and bondholder will receive interest that obligated to pay.

2.2 services innovation

2.2.1 Malaysia

First Islamic Credit Card by Bank Islam was launched in Malaysia. It uses Al- Bainnah with two separate contracts, namely al-bay’ al-mutlak (cash sale) and bay al-bai bithaman ajil (deferred sale). This card cannot be used for gambling, buying alcohol. The interest rate is fixed. Most of banks are coming with this service (Ma’sum,n.d)
