When words are not an option to describe someone what else might one use to represent themselves? In some ways each individual has little qualities that define them as a person and distinguishes them from other people. But also images can play an important part of telling a lot about someone because there is always a story behind an image. Many images come to mind when thinking of things that represent who I am. The imagery I would include in my metaphoric portrait would be a stage, Disney World, and a plane.…

We often do not realize we compare ourselves to those around us weather it is at work, school, or at the grocery store. Let’s say you go grocery shopping at Food 4 Less, and there is a person in front of you and the cashier tells him the amount due and asks him if he would like to donate to the Children’s Memorial Hospital, the man says no thank you and leaves. You are next in line, and now it is your turn to pay and the cashier also asks you if you would like to donate to the Children’s Memorial Hospital and you smile and say yes five dollars. How did that make you feel when the guy in front of you did not donate money, but you did? You felt awesome. But, while you are still bagging your food you overheard, the cashier asking the women behind you if she would like to donate money to the Children’s Memorial Hospital and the person says yes I would like to donate 20 dollars. What would your reaction be if you only donated 5 dollars and the women behind you donated 20 dollars? In my response paper, I will be explaining what the social comparison theory is.…

There are a lot of things that can change in a person through their years in high school. As a person progresses through high school grade by grade, there are many changes taking place. In these four years a student grows and becomes a stronger student and overall person in life. There are many challenges and obstacles a person goes through these years which is why freshman and senior years of high school are very different. Although they’re only a couple years apart and both occur in high school, a senior is more confident, they set the standards for the rest of the school and overall more mature and responsible than freshman.…

It’s very difficult for somebody to look into the mirror and describe themself. I grew up in a Christian family. I was taught to be honest, modest, and tolerant, to respect others no matter their faith or their convictions. Being asked to describe your personality appears to be a simple topic. On the contrary, it’s a very difficult and critical exercise.…

I don’t know how to begin to define myself in order for you to understand who I truly am. I believe there is more to a person than stories that mould us into who we are today; like when one asks, “Tell me your story," I don’t think about that time when my family broke into two or that time I was diagnosed with my mental illnesses. I think of coffee, because coffee is bitter and bitter people drink coffee, sad people; people with heavy hearts and heavy footsteps, with tangled thoughts, people with anxiety and words left unspoken, people like me. Lonely people drink coffee. I think of the world map I have in my room with thumbtacks marking every country I want to visit. I think of foreign languages, and how beautiful it sounds when words form…
I did mention myself changing. A lot of things promoted that growth. Many outside forces that I did not mention in my previous writings influenced me to grow and made me into who I am today. The main catalyst for my personal growth was going on that trip and gaining perspective. Getting out of my small town, I realized that my problems were so miniscule and that there was a whole world out there. From there I spent more time with family, rekindled my love for art, and transferred to a different school. The hard time I went through was awful, but it promoted so much growth and has made me into the person I am…

During my 18 years, I’ve learned how important family is. Your family will always be there for you no matter what. My family supports me in everything I do. All their time and money cannot express how much they love me because love is more than any of that. Love between families is a special bond of time, laughs, smiles and memories. Love is something that family doesn’t have to say to each other because we already know and I am blessed to have a family that loves me in every way possible.…
