Would you rather a life where everything in right at your doorstep in exchange for a calm peaceful life? Or maybe live within a united community in exchange for a closer job, and everything seemingly easier. Well this is the reality we live in. Everything has its advantages and its disadvantages, we can’t have it all. Whether choosing the country or town life depends on the utilities, community, environment and facilities provided. Utilities provided to an area are important when it comes to town or city life. For instance within the city there is much movement, cars passing on the roads transporting the constantly travelling public, so the roads are well maintained. In the case of the country, there is less traffic so therefore, less emphasis is placed on maintaining the roads there. Water supply is crucial but yet again, as more people move into the big cities great concern is placed there leaving the communities in the country area to resort to using rivers, springs and rainfall as a source of water. While the city is well lit by electricity companies, a long dark journey awaits those who use the rural roads at night often seeing little or no light from houses nearby. Within the urban areas basic utilities are well provided but not always for rural areas. Community life is quite different in rural areas from the urban. Often fighting to get by to get bigger better job opportunities as prices rise city dwellers often become competitive even shunning family to get a higher status. Family businesses in farming and the sale of fresh produce are often a factor of country living where they co-operate so that everyone progress though there may be disputes. In the city people often keep to themselves minimizing recreational activities while heritage festivals and “Best Village” competitions take place in the country. The smell of fast food allures many people to buy it in the towns, whereas, home cooked creole styled food steals the hearts of country families....
