Bears can be found throughout the world. They are generally large animals, and are characterized by a plantigrade walk which is to walk on their heels like humans, a large body, short legs, a stub of a tail, small, round ears, and forward facing eyes. There are considered to be eight species of bear. The purpose of this essay is to compare and contrast the differences between the black bears and the sun bears. The three main differences are the place where it lives, the fur color and the food that it eats.
The black bears can be found from Canada to northern Mexico. They are typically live in the forests but are also found in mountains and swamps. Despite by their name, the black bears can actually appear in a variety of colors. There are brown black bears, white black bears, and even the blue glacier bear. The black bears are very opportunistic eaters. Most of their diet consists of grasses, roots, berries, and insects. They also eat fish and easily develop a taste for human foods and garbage.
The sun bears live in the dense lowland forests of Southeast Asia which is found from southern China to eastern India and as far south as Indonesia. They are covered with a black coat made of sleek and short hairs. They has a white or yellowish patch on its chest shaped like a half-moon. The sun bears live on a diet consisting mostly of termites, birds, small mammals, and even bits of oil palms, and other commercial crops. They are also lumber through the forests by night, snacking on fruits, berries, roots, insects, small birds, lizards, and rodents.
Here are the three main differences between the black bears and the sun bears. Although they are difference in such a way, they are also have the similarities between them. The bears want to live like we do. Therefore, as a good human being, we are not supposed to kill the bear to get the fur or to take their cub and raised it as a pet.
