Compare/Contrast Essay

Have you ever compare and contrast two photos? Well, these two photos that I had compared and contrast helped me to understand what is the difference and similar with the photos. The first photo has been taken at a beach during the daytime. The second photo has been taken at home during the daytime. To compare and contrast the two photos, I will contrast the photos by each paragraph and compare them in the conclusion, which I will also add more differences.

In the first photograph, a mother and her daughter is flying a kite. They are at the beach because there's a ocean at the background. The light of the photo is quite active. It seems like the weather is cold because they are wearing warm clothes. Their expression seems very happy and enjoying their time together. The mother's movement is just standing there holding the string of the kite. The daughter's movement is being playful and flying the kite.

In the second paragraph, a father and his son is fixing a bicycle. They are at home because the background has a fence and a house. The light of the photo seems like they are fustrated. It seems like a cool day because they are wearing sweaters. The father's expression seems like he has hard time teaching his son. The son's expression seems like he is having trouble learning from his father. The father's movement is using a tool to tell his child about what to do with the tool. The son's movement is not much movement.

In conclusion, the strongest similarities is the parent in each photo are doing something with their child. They are outside during the day and the weather seems cold. They are wearing warm clothes, which obviously shows that it's cold. The differences is that photo one they are at the beach because at the background you see an ocean and they are standing on

The stories are alike by the setting because they both take place in nice neighborly towns. The mood is alike because both of the moods changed in the story. In the stories there was some irony. Don Anselmo and Mrs.Higgins are similar because they both stand up for what they want. They have in common that they are both being strong in the beginning. Don Anselmo and Mrs. Higgins are different because Don Anselmo stays strong throughout the entire story but at the end Mrs.Higgins does not. I would not say they are more different than similar because they both want something better for the kids in their life.…

Both Sonja Tanner’s “On Plato’s Cave” and Margaret Atwood’s “The Writer’s Responsibility” focus on the juxtaposition between the real and the imagined; A, however, suggests that it is, in fact, society’s ignorance and willingness to ignore the relationship between the real and the imagined that leads to the writer’s responsibility to make the relationship clear, while T highlights that the relationship is strained and obscured and that the responsibility is on the individual to forge the connections between the real and the imagined.…

When comparing and contrasting the poem “What It's Like to Be a Black Girl” by Patricia Smith with the short story “Country Lovers” By Nadine Gordimer. The character in “What It's Like to Be a Black Girl” is based more upon recent time while “Country Lovers” is based in a older time frame. However, both stories are uniquely about wanting to be loved. The poem and the short story are both great examples of the difficulty of life between two different ethnic backgrounds. While one concentrates more on tragedy the other is faced more with acceptance that leads to tragedy. Love although can't be explained, has many explanations to how one can love. Whether your love goes as deep as loving through tragic times or looking for someone to love you at all times. Both of these stories focus on issues of racism, inner struggles, slavery, prejudice, and the pursuit of freedom as well as equality. At the end, everyone wants and needs to be accepted and will do whatever it takes.…

Everyday, stereotype is used in the society. Sometimes, when people use stereotype on other people, they don’t even recognize it because it’s so common and is ignored by the society. It’s a way to judge people through their common believes based on ethnicity, gender, skin color, appearance and language of the people who are being judged. For example, when people see a Vietnamese woman in her 20’s, 30’s and 40’s just migrated to America, they would assume that she will be working in a nail salon and flirt with some rich guys to get married with. Being stereotype is difficult deal with, and it’s really offended and hurtful. “The Myth of the Latin woman: I Just Met a Girl Named Maria” by Judith Ortiz Cofer and “Mother Tongue” by Amy Tan share some common and different stereotypes that they had to go through. In the story “The Myth of the Latin Woman: I just met a Girl Named Maria”, Judith Cofer wrote about her experiences being stereotyped as a Latin woman. In “Mother Tongue,” Amy shared her personal experiences being stereotyped with her language’s barrier. Even though the two female authors shared the similarity for being stereotyped by the society, they faced different situations on the way they were stereotyped.…

Ben Franklin and Frederick Douglass are the most prominent figures in American history that fought for freedom and equal rights, democracy and racial equality. Frederick Douglass was one of the most important figures in anti-slavery and civil rights movement which took place in the 19th century. Ben Franklin was a scientist, politician, diplomat and author. His social and political activity coincided with consolidation and creation of the nation. For both Franklin and Douglass, escape from oppressive circumstances became a turning point in their careers giving rise to political and social activity. The themes of survival and escape are closely connected with family background and early life of both men. Benjamin Franklin was of a family that for generations had lived by the sweat of its brow. Like his ancestors for generations back , he was bred to a trade through a long apprenticeship . That he became a journalist was not altogether accident His Uncle Benjamin and his maternal grandfather had been versifiers, and his elder brother had become printer of the fourth news set up in New England.…

Looking at this photograph, I would compare it to the calm before the storm. First off, this is the last photo we took as a whole family, before my great grandma lost her long and gruesome battle to Leukemia. It was before the wearying events of December. In today’s world of TV shows and entertainment, talk shows have been shown to be one of the most watched and the most hyped type of television programming throughout the world. No matter whose household it is, it’ll be likely that they are watching talk shows, such as Oprah Winfrey’s show or even Jerry Springer’s show. Basically we all know the norm for talk shows, and how they usually show negative scenarios or talk about relationship and family problems. For instance, you would normally see a couple arguing and fighting over the paternity of a baby on the Jerry Springer show or if you’re watching the Montel Williams show you will see him talking about different subjects such as diets, wealth, and life secrets and a lot of other stuff along those lines. The best shows that I personally think contrast the most are the Maury Povich and Dr. Phil talk shows.…
