BrewDog was established in 2007 as a private limited company with only £30 000. It was established by friends James Watt and Martin Dickie, who also are directors of the company nowadays. The story of BrewDog was born when these two friends were completely bored to all similar beers which were sold in supermarkets all over England and they decided to do something whole different. They took a loan from a bank in the beginning of the year 2007 and the first bottle of beer was already brewed in April 2007.

In October 2009 BrewDog was re-registered as a public limited company and its first initial public offering was in January 2010 and it generated cash of £640 000.

Since then BrewDog has grown phenomenally. In the meanwhile the turnover in 2008 was only £800 000 but in 2010 it was already nearly 3,5 million pounds. Since then BrewDog sales has continued to grow rapidly and the company is on track to turnover 6,5 million pounds for 2011!

Nowadays BrewDog employs 60 person, including the executive directors. Its Punk IPA -beer was listed as the fastest growing alternative beer brand in United Kingdom. The most important markets of BrewDog are the UK and the rest of Europe, which covers over 60% of BrewDog’s sales.

BrewDog makes innovative, progressive and exciting beers. They add contemporary spin on classic beer styles. All their products are made from fresh natural ingredients and they use no additives, preservatives and pasteurization. Their products are available in 13 countries at the moment.

BrewDog is known for making the world’s strongest beer. The world record holder is named The end of history and it contains 55 percentage of alcohol. It is presented in a stuffed road kill squirrel. Only 12 bottles have been made and one of them is located in Pori.
