Company Motivational Profile
Brief History
Bernie Marcus and Arthur Blank had a dream where everything for a do-it-yourself project could be found at one location. That dream came to life with the help of investment banker Ken Langone and merchandising Guru Pat Farrah when the first two Home Depot stores opened on June 22, 1979, in Atlanta, Georgia (The Home Depot, 2003-2006).   The first stores encompassing about 60,000 feet, each were cavernous warehouses that dwarfed the competition (The Home Depot, 2003-2006). Throughout United States history, the Home Depot is known as the fastest growing retailer.
