I selected Wal-Mart and Target as my domestic companies, Kodak and Michelin as my global companies, and finally San Miguel Corporation and Philippine Airlines as my non-U.S.-based companies. "Target.com brings the fast, fun and friendly shopping experience and services guests expect from a Target store, online. Since the first Target store opened its doors in 1962, the goal has been to give guests the best products at the best value, and to give generously to the communities where Target does business. Target stores have always counted on friendly, energetic team members to help keep the promise every day. "
Target was born in 1961, when Dayton's department store demanded a store that sold less expensive items in a quick, convenient format. The first Target store opened in 1962 in Roseville, Minnesota, and was known for selling name brand items at a discounted price. The also hosted annual shopping events for the elderly and disabled. In the 1980's, they continued to open more store nationwide and roll out electronic scanning. In the 1990's they launched their Club Wedd, Lullaby Club, and opened their first Super Target store that introduced groceries. Target is now all over the United States and has already introduced a Target Guest Card, along with a Target Visa card.
Target customers are welcome in all stores. Target now carries over 15,000 products and gifts in their stores. Targets markets are within the fifty States of the US. In the 1970's, Target implemented electronic cash registers storewide to monitor inventory and speed up guest service. Target's commitment is to respect and value the individuality of all team members and guests. By valuing diversity, it will make good business sense and help to ensure the future success of Target. Discrimination is not tolerated and everyone is accountable to this commitment. Their concern for their
employees are that they recruit and hire a diverse workforce to reflect the communities they serve. They respect their team members by listening and responding to their diverse needs.
