Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Welfare Council has carried out the   Service Scheme Service Scheme in order to support Sichuan victims in 2008. This scheme was developed on the next day of the destructive Sichuan earthquake. Most of the volunteers who join this scheme are working on something related to the social work. This Scheme provide several kinds of help to the sufferers so as to satisfy their needs, like donations ,Critical Incident Stress Management course, organizing guidance websites. This would allow the volunteers to have more knowledge in helping the   sufferers. This volunteer group providing help unselfishly, demonstrated string sense of civic responsibility of the Chinese.

The council organized the donation to raise fund from the general public as a financial support for the rescue through the Chinese government, the Sichuan victims could be benefited from the little sum but sincere and compassionate donation. In this way, a wider range of the public can participate and help the victims in Sichuan by donating money, fostered community development with love and share, enhanced community involvement. As a result, greater sense of civil responsibility can be resulted since everyone are aiming for a good and sustainable society by the means of engaging each other and promoting equality.

Guidance work always involves the social involvement and the community participation. The Service Scheme introduced by the council has the support of the government and it also cooperate with the senior social worker to organize the Critical Incident Stress Management courses in order to enrich   the volunteers’ knowledge and teach them the most appropriate and efficient techniques about counselling to help the people in Sichuan. Most of the volunteers are the intellectuals who working on something related to social work from 62 schools.
