Reflection Paper
Last Thursday, our class got online and took a few personality quizzes as part of our in-class assignment. The main category of quizzes that we were supposed to choose from was the relationship tests. The two quizzes I took were the “arguing style” quiz and the “Interpersonal communication skills” quiz. Although they were both pretty short, it took the entire time to finish them both. The arguing style quiz was meant to show what type of arguer you are when having a disagreement with friends, family, or in a romantic relationship. The two main styles of arguing that the quiz was based off of was whether you tried to figure out ways to solve the argument or if you became loud and aggressive during the disagreement. My score fell in between both of the different styles of arguing. My results told me that although I can be understanding and sometimes find solutions to my problems, I tend to yell and keep the argument going more times than not. The other quiz I took was based on how well my interpersonal communication skills are. This quiz was meant to show you whether you were good with communicating to friends, family and your peers. The two main styles of interpersonal communication that the quiz had was whether you weren’t very good with communicating and getting your message across, or if you could speak smoothly and if you were able to communicate with people in a normal way. On this quiz my score showed that I’m very good with speaking and communicating with people. Overall, this assignment was fun and was a new way to spend our class time, rather than being lectured or put into groups. I wish I would have had time to do some of the other quizzes that looked interesting too. I felt that out of the two quizzes, the most useful was the arguing style quiz because it made me realize that sometimes there is a better way to solve arguments rather than just yelling and becoming upset. Hopefully, I’ll be able to work on that and next time I

As a person who is strong in interpersonal intelligence I find that I am very strong in the social competence section of this test. This section is heavily explained as a persons ability to connect and understand others. In this area or section I find I'm strong in areas of interpersonal competence, cultural competence, and peaceful conflict resolution. The reason I feel strong in these areas is because I feel as though I have a pretty good understanding of why people do the things they do and the emotions and thought processes of different people. This is the same with the idea of cultural competence I have a pretty good understanding of what the main ideas or lifestyles that each culture provides. As for pace I find I'm a quite peaceful person when it comes to conflict resolution because I have an understanding that each side getting angrier and more aggressive does not stand to solve anything it only provides a louder more useless argument, but social competency is not my only strength.…

Carrying the responsibility of managing the day to day operation of a fifty five million dollar medical Distribution Company forces me into communication instances which require care and precision for effective delivery. As an Operations Leader, I am responsible for delivering information to a large group of diverse individuals serving several different employment roles. Even though the audience is not responding audibly, as the presenter, I must communicate through a through a transactional communication model, meaning that, “I must communicate simultaneously with my employees on a personal level, and treat them as unique individuals , regardless of the context in which the interaction occurs” (Adler, Proctor, 2010, p. 18 ). In order to achieve this difficult communication task, I rely on a wide range of behaviors to pull from and the ability to choose the most appropriate behavior and skill at performing a wide range of communicating behaviors. Mastering the ability to choose, perform and apply communicating behaviors and patterns allows me as an operations branch manager to convey important processes, evaluations and company initiatives to the very diverse and individualized population of my employee audience. As described in the Business Communication Quarterly, “Companies that recognize the relationship between employee engagement and business success will seek ways to foster and facilitate workers an engage them with interpersonal communication training.” (Geraldine E. One thing that I am big on is integrity. This assessment gave me positive reinforcement about my integrity. When I commit to something I try my hardest to keep that commitment. I don’t like when some tells me that they are going to do something and don’t do it. I try to always keep my word. I try to be as open and honest as I can be without giving anyone a reason to doubt anything I say. I realized that my relationships with people at home, school, and work do not suffer because of my expressions of anger and impatience. I try not to let things that I cannot control get me angry. This is not to get confused with never getting angry because I don’t believe that there is one person that does not get angry. This assessment helped me discover my actions as a team member. I believe that I am a fair team member and I want everyone to feel comfortable with one another. I don’t like conflict so I love when everyone can get along. I try not to hold grudges against others I believe strongly in forgiveness…
