Definitions
Communication comes from a Latin verb
‘Communicare’ which means to impart, to
participate, to share or to make common.
Communication is the process by which two
or more persons come together to exchange
ideas
and
understanding
amongst
themselves.’

What is Communication?
Communication is a two way process
involving a Sender and a Receiver

Successful communication occurs when
a sender sends a message and a receiver
responds to the message in a manner
which satisfies the sender

Elements in Communication
1. It is a process

which information and understanding can
be transmitted.

Formal is the channel of communication that is
intended to take place by the management of an
organization. It may be vertical (upward or
downward), horizontal (lateral or cross contact)
or diagonal.
Grapevine is the informal channel of
communication amongst people which
flows around water coolers, down
hallways, through lunch rooms and
wherever people get together in groups
.
