Communication is one of the most important skills we can have as individuals. Communication helps us express our ideas, thoughts, feelings or opinions and its one of the most valuable techniques that we learn as we grow. Communication can come in many different shapes and forms whether we are using verbal or nonverbal communication, technology for communication or written communication. Face to Face communication and online communication are two of the most modern ways of communicating and they are very important when it comes to relationships and work. Being able to communicate thoroughly through face to face and online communication helps us become more confident while building relationships and being successful in the work force.
Face to face communication is very important for individuals while taking on daily tasks. Without face to face communication many conversations and scenarios could be misunderstood. When communicating with a person face to face it seems to be more effective for the parties involved because body language like facial expressions, hand movement or symbols which are the words, images, gestures, and expressions that we use to represent our thoughts, ideas, beliefs, and feelings (Dobkin &Pace, 2006, pg. 10) are easier to interpret and understand the messages that are being conveyed.
Face to face is important for me academically because I am able to receive direct conversation from instructors and peers which can help me understand the message and information that is being received. When dealing with people personally; face to face communication is key to relationships with friends, family, and coworkers.
