Commonwealth Business Club of India to facilitate Scottish companies to forge ties with India
NEW DELHI: Commonwealth Business Club of India, a joint initiative of the Organising Committee Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi and FICCI, has partnered with Business Club Scotland to bring together apex Indian and Scottish business organisations during the run-up to the XIX Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi so they could explore business and economic opportunities between the two countries.
The initiative has been backed by the Scottish Government and leading business organisations, who aim to maximise opportunities from Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi and Commonwealth Games 2014 Glasgow and from other major events in the coming years.
CBCI and Organising Committee Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi Chairman, Mr. Suresh Kalmadi, MP, said that Indian businesses had turned to the world in search of new markets to explore and to develop growth opportunities. “Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi has already asserted India’s global presence and brought to the forefront the country’s emergence as a sporting, political and economic giant,” he said.
Organising Committee Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi Joint Director General Mr. Tribhuvan Shanker Darbari said that the partnership between CBCI and Business Club Scotland comes at an opportune time for the business communities in both nations that will host the next two Commonwealth Games. “The Games have a positive economic impact and will stoke joint aspirations to build on existing trading links between India and Scotland. Both CBCI and BCS recognise the potential benefits of cooperating and exchanging information on mutually important matters. Together, both organisations will host relevant trade delegations, facilitate networking events for Indian and Scottish business. These will focus on strengthening trade ties in key verticals namely: power, oil & gas, transport, education, tourism, etc.”
