Common problems with No Advice
It is apparent through media and history books that the 21st century is an ever changing generation, because of problems that we consider to be “common problems”, and how each person addresses with these “common problems”. Each individual has a different moral code, attitude, and different ways of tackling problems. Some individuals are concerned, and some do not care. Others maybe inspired to find solutions and methods to fixing common problems. Scott Feschuk wrote an article about what he believes the solution is to common problems called “Fixes for Some Common Problems”. He claims he can help his readers, when in reality his article is nothing but a good laugh, and he does not address his problems with sincerity but with humor. Feschuk’s article is humorous and simple to read, but his article is all humor, and has no facts which damages his logos and ethos, and ultimately makes Feschuk argument ineffective.
If an author is trying to get his or her audience to agree about his/her’s issue, he or she must use a serious tone. Feschuk wrote as if he also thinks his topic is a joke ,and it may come off as sarcastic to some readers such as when he write about his desire is “solved” to never watch the TV series Two and a Half men because Charlie Sheen is present. Or when “Arizona Barbie- who cries real tears when Sheriff forecloses on Dream Mansion” (1). He writes as though these issues are laughing matters, but how is there any advice being given when all he is doing is poking fun at the common problem of houses being foreclosed? Paris Hilton + dingo. And the likely result is Lindsay Lohan.(1) I will admit that is a very humorous point Feschuk made, but when this sort of humor is repeated throughout the article I find myself laughing, and not gaining any advice at all, which makes his analysis ineffective.
